Google Play refused to do anything at all, saying they could neither refund (due to it being more than 120 days) nor could they just remove the movie from my library, they did say they would have a supervisor email me but it wouldn't help and then when I asked if I could speak to another rep they disconnected the chat.

Youtube instantly agreed to a courtesy and charged back my money and removed access to the movie, both were processed within seconds. I asked for a refund for both movies since I felt like that isn't what I purchased. My PS4 is also capped at 720p, my android phone(s) and tablet(s) are un-capped. Interestingly (in a sick way) Google/Youtube in the past have reported this as a 'bug' or 'error' and even the help/learn more text read in spots as saying this is something they are 'working on expanding'. They, and the matching warning text (which didn't used to be there) say that HD viewing is limited and to click for more info, if you click it basically says use Safari browser and/or Chromecast Ultra/Android TV or you're capped at 480p. 'Both' companies lied up and down that this 'limit' has always been in place. So I just spent an hour in online chat with both Youtube and google play over this issue last night about two movies that I purchased BEFORE this change happened in October 2020.įirstly note that, even now, trailers are shown in 1080p. On a side note - PLEASE put a warning on the movies that users will be limited to 480p BEFORE they buy it! There's not even a warning label and I can imagine how many other people have fallen into this trap at this point. Well it's Sep.2021 and STILL the movies are only limited to 480p - can you please explain why and when we can expect to watch our movies in full resolution? If you don't know or can't fix it, please allow us to refund them because this is basically stealing from us.I understand issues happen and nothing is perfect, but at the end of the day we paid for the full resolution just like we would if we bought a physical disc, so by limiting our full resolution purchase to a bare 480p (not even 720p HD) that's completely unfair to the customer.not to mention all other 4K content on the platform works, just not the PAID MOVIES.?

2020 there was some sort of issue on YouTube's side which caused them to limit the movies to 480p.

I have at least 4 movies on my YouTube account which I purchased in the highest resolution option and for some reason in Oct.
